HyperLink MADISON, WIS., June 13, 2018 – Collin Weltzien of the Arcadia FFA Chapter was elected to a year of service as the 2018-2019 Section Three State FFA Officer during the 89th Wisconsin FFA Convention held in Madison, Wis. His advisors are Mr. Kevin Whalen and Mr. Steve Schank. Growing up on a dairy farm has transformed Weltzein from a “simple farm boy to an independent, intelligent, and dedicated employee”. His SAE, or supervised agricultural experience, began with feeding and restraining calves then grew to managing more complicated jobs including vaccination, management decisions, and nutrition. Weltzien is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls majoring in Agribusiness who aspires to be a fourth generation farmer. Colin credits his major contribution to his chapter as revitalizing their parliamentary procedure team. In addition, he has served as FFA President and Parliamentarian, competed in dairy and soil judging as well as competing in prepared, extemporaneous, parliamentary procedure and creed speaking. Weltzien notes that “he could never fully repay the Wisconsin Association of FFA for the positive impact his FFA experience has had on his life” and hopes to try repay some of this during his year of service. He is confident that his ambitious, well-rounded agricultural knowledge will help him grow in this position. During his year as a State FFA Officer, Weltzein will meet thousands of FFA members and will travel over 10,000 miles. In addition to meeting with members on the local, state, and national levels, the entire state officer team will meet with leaders in government, education, business and agriculture.
